2&3. What stood out the most is how much everyone supported the video. I think everyone understands that not everyone will be a great public speaker on their first try. I didn't think any feedback was silly, most of it was useful. I know I needed to make the pitch longer, and that I needed to work on my tone. I can get anxiety sometimes for the most ridiculous reasons, but I always get through it, and you could see it in the video. For the next pitch, I tried to work on my tone, stance, length, and attitude. It still needs work, but I think I have improved, and that is what matters to me. Thank you, classmates, for the feedback and I'm glad we get to work with each other for this semester.
Good job! You did way better than me with this assignment. Sounds like the feedback from the last assignment was very helpful for you. The best way to learn is from our mistakes and I think you did that.
ReplyDeleteHey what’s up Christian! Really enjoyed your second elevator Pitch. I thought you spoke very clear, and your words were very calculated. However, I do think that you could have talked about your idea a little more in depth. The thoughts you shared were very broad, and I think there could’ve been a lot more enthusiasm in your pitch!
ReplyDeleteHey Christian! Much better than last time! Glad to hear your appreciation, and just want you to know that it is a pleasure! So I don't want to provide you with a bunch of nit picky details of how to improve. Instead, I'll comment on two more important things which can be easily improved upon for the next one, and make a huge difference to your presentation.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that struck me is the lighting. Although this isn't really a film class, you might be required to record yourself doing this very pitch in the future when much more is at stake. In lieu of that, try not to aim the camera at open windows as the autofocus will adjust the brightness to the window causing everything else to look dark.
The next thing is what I usually tell my mock trial team members whenever they are giving their speeches. I noticed that you would pause a lot during the pitch. Your rhythm was broken and so it made your pitch hard to follow. Although it can be difficult when talking to a camera, try to focus on not thinking of the pitch as a speech, but more so as a conversation to another person. Doing this should make it easier to maintain the flow. You'd be surprised at the difference it makes!
Lastly, you are right. Public speaking is downright hard. Getting it to come as second nature takes practice. You are doing well, and I hope that the advise from us (Classmates) makes the process much easier and shorter!
I think there was a huge improvement in this video compared to your last. You were very organized and spoke very clearly. I think making the pitch longer gave you a little more time to add the extra detail to really get your point across. Great job Christian, I think you had some great information and good luck on the rest to come.
